Privacy Policy

MYO Sync ("MYO Sync," "we," "us") compares your Yoto MYO library against a Google Drive backup folder you connect, so you always know which cards are missing or out of date. This page explains what information MYO Sync touches when you use it, and what it doesn't.

The short version

MYO Sync only reads from your Yoto account and your connected Google Drive folder, to compare the two. It never uploads, edits, deletes, or creates anything in either one, and it never keeps a copy of your library's contents. Nothing you do in MYO Sync is sold or used for advertising.

What MYO Sync accesses, and why

Your Yoto login. MYO Sync uses Yoto's own login page (you never enter your Yoto password into MYO Sync itself). Because MYO Sync's server does the comparison when you open the app, the resulting token is stored on MYO Sync's own server, not just in your browser. The permissions requested are read-only. MYO Sync can't create, edit, or delete anything in your Yoto library, only read your card titles, chapters, tracks, and when each card was last updated.
Your Google Drive folder. When you connect Drive, you pick one folder using Google's own folder picker. MYO Sync requests read-only access to your Drive, and only ever looks inside the folder you picked, to see which cards already have a backup there and whether that backup matches what's currently in your Yoto library. It never uploads, edits, deletes, or creates anything in your Drive.
Connection state, stored server-side. So you don't have to reconnect every time, MYO Sync's backend stores your Yoto and Google sign-in tokens and which Drive folder you picked. It does not store your Yoto email address, or a copy of your library's contents, audio, icons, or cover art. Every check reads directly from Yoto and Drive at the time you open the app or click Refresh. Stored connection information expires automatically after 45 days without use.
Basic usage counts. MYO Sync keeps a simple log of when a Yoto or Google Drive connection is made, refreshed, or disconnected, with the time and a random ID for your browser. It is used only to count how many people use MYO Sync. It contains no name, email address, Yoto account details, or library information.

Cookies

MYO Sync sets two cookies of its own, and no third-party cookies:

A session cookie, which keeps your connections linked to your browser. It can't be read by scripts on the page, and it lasts 30 days.
A random browser ID, used only for the usage counts described above. It lasts about two years and contains no personal information.

What MYO Sync doesn't do

No third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
No background checks. MYO Sync only reads from Yoto and Drive while you're using it.
No advertising, and no use of your Yoto or Google account information for advertising or tracking purposes, consistent with Yoto's own API Guidelines and Google's API Services User Data Policy.
No selling or sharing of your information with third parties, beyond what's necessary for MYO Sync to function, described throughout this page.

Third-party services

MYO Sync relies on a couple of outside services to work, and your use of MYO Sync is also subject to their own privacy practices:

Yoto: your login and library
Google: your connected Drive folder
Vercel: hosts the app and its server
Upstash: stores your connection information
Neon: stores the usage counts

Children's privacy

MYO Sync is designed to be used by parents and guardians, not directly by children. It doesn't knowingly collect any information from children, and doesn't ask for a child's name, birthdate, or any other identifying information at any point.

Your control over your information

Disconnecting Yoto or Google Drive from the Settings tab immediately deletes the corresponding stored tokens (and, for Drive, your connected folder) from MYO Sync's server. So that the folder picker can open where you left off if you reconnect, the name and ID of the last folder you picked are kept until they expire after 45 days.
You can also revoke MYO Sync's access entirely at any time from your Yoto account's connected-apps settings, or from your Google Account's third-party access settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of MYO Sync after a change means you accept the updated policy.
